Hi! My name is Marc de Bruin, and I am a born and raised Dutchman. Early 1999, I was 5 years into my intellectually stimulating and financially comfortable job as a real estate and criminal lawyer with a high profile firm in the Netherlands. One problem: I didn't enjoy what I was doing. On Monday morning I looked forward to Friday evening, and on Sunday evening I dreaded Monday morning…………

It took me nearly six years to find out that I really didn't want to spend the rest of my working life as a lawyer, even though the money, status and intellectual challenges were excellent. One day, early 1999, I had the realisation that I was on a dead-end track to nowhere, and I had to change. My personal journey was one of “thinking I got it right, to finding the results were wrong”.

For nearly 9 years I was a litigation lawyer –and good at it!-, assuming life was about striving, achieving, sacrificing, over-committing, specializing, battling and surviving. It never felt right, but I didn’t have an alternative strategy…. I’d never learned one…… I have worked with many seemingly highly successful people, who had parts of their lives in total shambles or totally out of balance. And they thought “that’s how it is”. 

That DEFINITELY needed to change. And that's why I am where I am now!
